hi all
i have noticed (among other things) that when i drive my car around town over all the bumpy roads which are a staple up here: my dash pad is rattling on the driver side right up by the windshield. does anyone know if there is a screw located in this area that i could tighten up to stop the rattling? any help in locating this would be appreciated as well!!
i have an 87 trans am gta...
i checked the guides, but did not see one for dash pad removal or install...
thanks as always!

The dash pad had about 15 screws along the bottom of the front edge and 4 screws in the defroster
Since this pad is open driven around with NO screws, I doubt this is causing the rattle
Check the speaker cover as the plastic nubs tend to break off
If thats on it continue further under the dash looking for noises -- "If you have complete control over the damned thing, you're not going fast enough." - Carrol Smith

Hi Pocket!
Thanks for the info.
What does open driven around mean? Sorry for my lack of terminology...
I checked my speaker cover and that is in tighter than a drum...
When I am driving, I can see the dash pad actually vibrating in this corner - when I put my left hand on it to stop the vibration, it works.
That's why I thought that there was a screw hidden up in that corner, closest to the windshield on the driver's side...
Thanks!

I really dont remember what i was saying there...
The point that was bouncing around my head was that i dont have any screws in my dash pad and it stays put with zero rattles
There are no screws near the windshield at the corners
Try adding foam under the corner and around the A pillar garnish -- "If you have complete control over the damned thing, you're not going fast enough." - Carrol Smith

But it's also coming up on 22 years old, I'd add a little padding between the shield and the dash -- Being rebuilt, It'll take a while:
