Headlight Motor

Posted By: wettpaint On: 04-06-2008 @ 12:19:54         Reply | Edit
I just replaced the left headlight motor on my 91 TA and when you turn the headlights on the motor will run on for a few seconds, and when you turn off the headlights, it does the same thing, running on for a few seconds. How can I correct this?
Another problem is that the headlight door now sits to low in the front, it no longer is parallel with the hood. What can i do to fix that? All help will be welcome!

The alignment is simple panel adjustment
You can adjust that headlights about 1/2" in most directions, even twist it

Sounds like you replaced it with a wornout motor

Inside the headlight there is a gear which lifts and lowers the assembly
To keep this gear from chewing up, GM put small nylon bushings to soften things

Over time these bushing grind up to dust and the gear spins until a large chunk gets wedged and allows the motor to lift the assembly

These are simple to rebuild thou
