84 Z running bad

Posted By: texlmc On: 02-19-2008 @ 22:29:12         Reply | Edit
Ok I have a strange problem and not sure what it is. I took my Z in to get inspected and I failed miserably. Once i gave it the go over i noticed the intake gasket(large leak)and thought that would fix it. Well ever since I fixed the gasket the car has ran like crap. It ran like a bat outta hell before. Anyone have any suggestions on what the problem could be. I know a leak would affect it running but THIS MUCH, it hardly stays running now.

84.... Carb or crossfire?

What kind of leak did you have/fix?

ok the Engine is a 305 HO with carb and the leak was where the gasket decayed and was actually sucking air through the hole. I replaced a valve cover gasket and there was a small amount of oil pooled up next to it. When i started the car I noticed it was sucking oil under the intake.

Replace intake gaskets and go from there

Check PCV system
