Fuel pump going?

So the RS is having some issues. It stalls real bad on cold start, and I have to give it gas to keep it going. It occasionally pops and sputters on cold start as well, as if it's starved for fuel. I can't just start it up and go even when it just came off the road. It's extremely sluggish at low RPMs, and I have to mash it to get it going. It behaves much better after a few minutes on the road. There's also a slight misfire on the interstate. Lastly, if I let it drop to around a quarter-tank, it dies while braking (coming to a light, etc.).
Everyone tells me it's fuel related, and the pump has been suggested more than once. The fuel filter is only about 18 months old, while the pump is original.
Which brings me to this... how the Hell do I check the fuel pressure on a TBI? I know that the gauge has to go in the line, but where? And do I need a special tester?
Edit: This all started on the way home from havng a stereo installed at Best Buy. I know it's unlikely, but I can't help but wonder about that.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
