350z...28 Posted By: neffz28 On: 01-02-2008 @ 19:56:17 Reply | Edit Hey iv been reading some of these posts and notice everyone saying the third gen cars are slow well iv got a 91z28 with an L98 and it is far from slow done a few little things but nothing to the actual engine, heck iv beat a 93 mustang lx, a 95 gt with 5 speed a 97 gt with 5 speed an 02gt automatic and some other cars not really worth mentioning oh an older vette not sure year just some dude met up with at a red light. oh probably the coolest was heck yal might think im lying but i swear im telling the truth,on the way up to Memphis one night a yellow z06 (had the brake cooling ducts on back oh it was like the 5th gen) got beside me on the high way im like yeah ok iv got no chance but i just replaced my header gaskets and figured screw it ill play, well from 65mph untill like 115 i was half a fender in front of him that was awesome ha well once 115 hit he left me like i was standing still ha i got smoked but it did feel nice to be in front probably dosent count since we were already on the highway it seems like my top end has suffered since i put the chip in...anyway i just wanted to say these cars are not slow oh and sorry guys i still have not fixed my pic but if you click on my name you can see a big pic of my car Posted By: Pocket On: 09-24-2007 @ 21:36:59 Reply | Top | Edit Umm, please use punctuation and the return key Second, noone said 3rd gens are slow altogether They were made during an economical era and most of them quite frankly are not made to perform That doesnt mean all of them are made that way What "chip" did you put in? If its a hypertech or pretty much any plug and play deal, then you should remove it. Posted By: Pocket On: 09-24-2007 @ 23:29:25 Reply | Top | Edit The punctuation part was so i can understand what your asking instead of scratching my head and guessing Jet chip is junk Any good chip is custom burned for YOUR car He wont just up and LEAVE you if hes racing you You wont gain twice the acceleration by shifting from 4th to 5th -- "If you have complete control over the damned thing, you're not going fast enough." - Carrol Smith Posted By: neffz28 On: 09-26-2007 @ 01:31:39 Reply | Top | Edit Dude come on now you have raced before right not trying to sound like im talking smack but come on. his car is a lot faster and it depends on the gearing and on the motor how it is going to at at diffrent speeds and rpm range maybe he didint know how to drive his car anyway obviously his car is faster on top end than mine. anyway not a big deal just a friendly race. oh and about the gaining speed....i had some friends recently an 02 z71 silverado and a 02 celica gt and it was pretty even untill 85 the z71 would just get up and leave the celica, the celica would only catch up when the governor kicked in. ha yeah to my surprise the z71 beat the celica 3 out of 3 races and he has mud tires. oh the jet chip is calibrated for a 91z28 with a 350 but i do agree with you a custom burned chip would be better but i don't know how to do that and from my understanding it is very tedious. ha it would be nice if it was like the newer cars and you can just buy a programmer and do everything yourself
