Most stock wheels have 215/60/15 tires
If your really lookin to step up the sizes, pick up a set of 16" GTA wheels or some 4th gens
Those start at 245 series and go up to 295's -- "If you have complete control over the damned thing, you're not going fast enough." - Carrol Smith

my car has 16"s on it and i like the look. i run 245/50r16 on all four corners. kinda odd to steer but they look mean. i'm thinkin of goin to a 265 or 275 out back, but i may just jump on a set of 17" vette or 4th gen wheels. --

Should have no problem running a 275/50/15 or a 275/60/15. On the front I don't think I'd go anymore than a 245/60/15. I used to run 215/65/15's on the front before the skinnies. -- 1982 Z28, 383, D-1SC intercooled @ 10psi, trick flow heads, solid roller cam, 3.73's, stall

i've heard alot of people running 235/60/15's on all 4 corners, but you gotta have the staggered look or its just not a muscle car. --

oh, and another thing. i would NOT put anything xxx/70/15 on a car. those are the tires you'd put on grandma's station wagon or something. WAY TOO TALL! trust me. i had a set of junk 215/70/15's on my sixxer for roll around tires cuz they held air, and the car looked embarassing. --

235/60/15 is the best look for 15 inch wheels without trying to mix and match widths. --

Another vote for 235/60/15's. I have them on my Bird. The car came with 215/60/15 when I bought it and the speedo was always off. I found out why when I found the tire sticker and found out that they originally had 215/65/15's on them...well... those 215/65's are 26 inches tall and the previous owner didn't calculate that when he put the 215/60's on there, he lost height. I did some checking and found going to a 235/60/15 (at 26 inches tall) would restore the proper height to the tire plus a little width from stock and keep the speedo happy too.

I just put 4 BF Goodrich 235/60/15's radials with the raised white lettered and I'm very happy. I wasn't too sure how big I could go on the tires but they seem to look nice and driving on 265's here in buffalo in the winter which im forced to do wouldn't be a pretty sight -- 1989 Pontiac Firebird with 2.8

Raised white letter tires with a decent sidewall are great on 3rd gens. I used to run Grand Am Radial GT's. I don't remember what size. What ever was factory. --
