TPI problems/solutions buildup progress

Racecar hit another bump

I got fed up looking at the set of SLP runners and port matched plenum so I put them on

Previous problems
Rough idle, like a cam lope - now surges
Mild hesitation in the bottom RPMs
Intermittent stalling at stops - resolved

New problems
High idle 2000 RPMs (in gear)
Very slight hesitation, nothing like what it was before
Horrible idle (park/neutral) 200near stall to 2000 RPMs surging

The good side
Runs like a bat outta hell, NO power loss. I actually gained a good bit of power according to my seat-of-the-pants-dyno

Ive been thru a good many archives on TGO and Im pretty sure I forgot a vaccuum line, messed up the IAC or TPS... or possibly a faulty injector

Ill post more tomorrow once daylight rolls back around

I plan on beating my previous best of 9.482 (stock run) in the 1/8 this Thursday

TPS checked out fine
IAC was a solid chunk of soot so i had to clean that off

Still no fix, and it had a loud intake hiss. It was sucking air somewhere. Took the throttle body off and found some remnants of a gasket had been painted over when i bought it. Cleaned it off and everything is fine

All problems resolved... for now

My TPI has been idling high to every since I got it running good. Not that big a deal but when you first start it it wants to rev up to around 2,000 then will slowly come down to about 12 or so. It chips the tires when you drop it in gear.
Anyway my question is what all upgrades have you done to your TPI and what power gains have you got?
By the way I got in a little race with a 350Z the other day but just for about 100 yards or so. We had just pulled out of a red light and was up to about 20 mph when he kicked it then I kicked mine but he had already got a jump on me. He pulled away pretty easy but not as bad as I thought it would. I'd say if I could get 50 more horses out of my 305 and go with 3,73 gears I could take a 350Z.

My car with the 2,73 gears is geared way way to high. Overdrive is useless unless your doing 90. I cruse on the interstate at 80 in drive at 2,500 rpm. How retarted is that?
These cars need performance gearing why did GM ever build these cars like that?

Check your IAC, it was filthy on this car, my 92 TBI, my old V6 and a parts car. The IAC directly controls your idle, it will help unless in this case, you have a big intake leak

I use overdrive pretty my everywhere but the track, then I just stick it in 3rd and go
2,500 RPMS @ 80mph is about right
Low RPMs using the TPI's bottom end torque. Perfect for gas milage which is where the whole purpose of overdrive comes in

Kick it from about 40mph, thats where your trans will take full effect of 2nd and 3rd

A gear change will help you but dont expect night and day changes. Im running stock 3.23 gears in this car and it still blows the doors off most imports and 3.23 aint that much lower than 2.73

Because I have a jack ass X friend I want to show a thing or two. He is the one behind my car getting spray painted and he thinks his little Z is the badist thing on the road! He says it gets him all the girls. I want to embarrass him in front of his little girlfriends with what he calls my 20 year old pile of shit!
I'm so mad at that fucker I could choke him!
I want everyone in town to see me kick his ass in a motor to motor race! I want to be so sure I can blow him away that I'm going to throw ten 100 dollar bills on the hood and say match that winner take all. I want to make him look so bad I'll destroy his reputation like he destroyed mine.

Let me tell you all what else he has done. Not only is he going all over town telling everyone I'm a fag and painted all that on my car with the dicks and qweer stuff. That son of a bitch made a myspace page about me and posted pics of me saying I was gay and looking for male affection in the Kingsport, Bristol, Johnson City Tri-City erea and even put my cell phone number on it!
I've been bomb barded with phone calls from fagets around here wanting to hook up.
He even tells people I have a fetish for Burt Reynolds and want to screw him that's why I made up this car like I did!
So now maybe you understand why I want to throw some dirt back in his face when I show him up at his own game!

I bought the ported stuff already done(poorly) off TGO

I blow the doors off Z cars
Only have a problem with turbo cars and those will be taken care of when I supercharge mine. But thats a long road away

As for your little 350Z guy, what do you think it matters if you whip his ass in a race. He'll still be the same lil puny runt he was before and youll still be just as bothered by him. Ignore him, he will get bored eventually and stop bothering you

Your not 16 anymore, things like this shouldnt get to you that bad. If he busts your property then call the cops or go bust some ass. A measly little race wont solve anything

Ok Pocket I want to know everything about your cars setup if you say you easily beat Z cars.
You running 305 or 350? rear end gears? Any and all mods? quarter mile times? 0-60 times?

Every non essential engine assessory removed, few bits of weight reduction. Full interior thou

Best time was 9.482 @ 77mph on a 1/8th track spinning some with 255 series tires and no mods
Ill find out what my modified time is this thursday
