Thinking of selling my 85 TA

Posted By: 406TPI On: 01-02-2008 @ 18:19:11         Reply | Edit
Thinking about selling my TA. I dont really have a price I am looking for since I dont really need to sell it, but i havent really driven it in a couple years. It just sits in my garage under a cover. I have been offered 10k for it about 3 yrs ago but turned it down.(i should have taken the offer) Its a 85 trans am thats been conveted to the 165 ecm and has been dyno tuned where it put out 305 HP and 405TQ. It has somewhere between 90k to 92k miles on it. The motor and trans have less than 2k on them. I have not had it at the track in a long time so Im am not sure what it will do. It ran a 13.1 long before the ecm change and the dyno tuning.

Heres what it has

406 engine
superam intake with tpis bigmouth manifold
built 700r4 with 2500 stall
built 10 bolt rear with 3:73 gears with girdle cover
LS1 alum. driveshaft
Edlebrock headers with hooker cat back
Rear pbr brakes
ram Air 2 hood
fiberglass spolier
lowered with eibach springs
lakewood control arms and panhard bar
body is great and is in show condition except for a couple little minor scratches

Plus there is much much more pm or email me for more questions

Heres a couple pics plus there are alot more pics and vids on my car domian page that is in my sig.

I am open to trades but I am not interested another 3rd gen looking to get into something different. I live in the Cleveland Ohio area. Again I am not setting a price because I dont need to sell it so basically I need to be blown out of the water with an offer. I have owned this since 1991 or 92 so it will be hard to let it go.

Is that a chevy 400 bord to 406? And if so where did you find the fuel injection setup for it? I've been wanting to do a EFI 400 but everyone says you can't FI a 400 no one makes anything for it and TPI wont work either.
I also thought 305 HP from this motor sounds weak, I always thought a 400 made over 300 horse stock. I had a friend that had a 78 TA with a very mild built 400 and it was wicked!

Its a small block chevy so tpi will work on it but you need bigger injectors and a custom tune. My car would have had more HP if I would of put in a bigger cam but I went small because i was afraid of not passing the emission testing
