HELP no signal going to fuel injectors

Posted By: jshay On: 01-03-2008 @ 13:52:01         Reply | Edit
let me start by saying thanks in advance, and here is my problem. I just purchased a 87 gta with a 305 t.p.i. engine. I picked it up cheap because the car stopped running and they assumed it was the fuel pump because if you spray starting fluid in the throttle body it will run. they replaced the fuel pump but it still wouldn't run. then someone told them the ecm might be bad so they replaced that and the fuel pump relay and still not running. next they tried the ignition modual. then gave up and sold the car to me. I checked the wiring and there is no signal to the fuel pump, but if you hard wire it it will come on. I used a noid light to test the injectors and they are not getting signal to fire. I was looking at wiring diagrams but I can't figure out what would cause the fuel pump and the injectors not to work. any help would be greatly aprecciated.

Sounds like a ground problem. As in there is no ground to complete the circuit to the ecm, injectors, fuelpump, ect..

I tested the injectors one by one, is it normal for both wires going to the each injector to be posotive? I know the injectors are controlled from the e.c.m. by the ground side, so this kinda confused me. I also checked the wires to the fuel pump, all test ground until the switch is on the one has no reading at all. I am about to just carburate this car and forget about the f.i. but I know the performance isn't the same.

WAIT, i had that problem, i didnt have all the wire hooked up to my distributer. so my ECM didnt ground the injectors, therefore they didn't pulse
