An aquaintance offered to sell me his 1979 10th anniversary Trans Am which he had bought from a guy he knew needing money. I looked this up on the NADA site and was quite surprised at what I saw. It is one of few 400cid 4 speed cars out there. It is not numbers matching because the original 400 is gone and naother 400 put in place. It also needs some work but it runs and drives. Some of the original interior door pannels and consol are missing and were replaced with non T/A pannels. The leather seats are still in and the rear seat has the bird on it.
I know about the rust thing and have other f-bodies myself but I don't know much about these ??? Can anyone help ??

This must be an unusual car. Not many people seem to know about it. There were only 1817 of these built with the 4 speed.
I have found that all the original parts do come with the car except the original intake manifold and carb. It looks like a 30 year old car needing lots of TLC.
He wants $3,000 for it, I think less but don't know a good value for it.
Any ideas ??? Any good feedback is welcome....

OK... I bought the thing anyway. Has some rust on the outside in the usual spots but not bad. It sat in a barn for may years then about 8 years ago had a 67 GTO 400 put in it and was used as a novice drag car.
Does anyone know what manifolds aftermarket or stock will let me put the shaker scoop back on the engine and still fit the hood opening. It has a high rise intake and Holley carb on it and the shaker won't go back on.
Also I'm going to need some used car parts. What sources are out there ?
The worst rust is the pan that is behind the rear bumper that holds the rear gas tank straps. Anyone know where these may be had ? New our used ?
