brake question

first off I have a 78 pontiac firebird with power brakes

I have been doing some research for some brake upgrades and i came across something I am not sure of.

when looking to buy master cylinders, most of them have a few options for the bore size, like 3/4, 7/8, 1, 1 1/16.

that does the bore size mean??? and what difference do the sizes mean?
