403 to 400 swap

Posted By: 79fireterd On: 01-04-2008 @ 19:51:22         Reply | Edit
I have a 1979 trans am and would like to put my 1973 400 in it. The car had a 403 in it.

Are the motor mounts the same?

403 is an Oldsmobile engine. I assume your 400 is a Pontiac engine which will not bolt up to the Olds motor mounts. You will need mounts from a Pontiac powered car.

I know the mounts themselves are the same, because I ordered mounts for a pontiac engine, and they are the same as the ones in the car. Is the location the same?

motor and trans are in the car, The pontiac engine bolted right up to where the olds engine was. Easier than I thought it was gonna be.
