Starter wiring

Posted By: mcigna2002 On: 01-04-2008 @ 21:54:37         Reply | Edit
Before we pulled the 301 from my 80 TA my buddy dropped the starter and did not mark any wiring. I did not see what wiring went to the starter. He's away with his new wife on their honeymoon and I wouldn't dare call him. His wife doesn't really enjoy his working on cars or hanging with the guys (poor SOB is doomed).

The two smaller solenoid terminals are marked R and S. I only see 2 wires that run across the motor mount to the starter on the drivers side. The larger (battery) goes to the center of the solenoid leaving only one thinner wire. What terminal would it go to R or S. Am I missing a wire?

Thanks,
Mike

"R" terminal is for vehicles equipped with point and condenser systems.

Found this on a Chevy site. It explains why I have only one thin wire. So my thin wire goes to the S terminal. I hope
