oil pan new and old configs.

I need some info. The oil pan gasket set that I have always used included two side rail gaskets, one front lip gasket, and one 5 point rubber rear gasket. I understand this is the “new” configuration. Everidently I never saw a pontiac motor older than 1976.

The “old” configuration has two side rail gaskets, one front lip gasket, and one 3 point rubber rear gasket AND ONE ADDITIONAL gasket that looks like a strip of chewing gum. Were the heck does it go? Over the top of the 3 point rubber rear gasket?

I’m looking into a chrome oil pan and every one that I see has the three hole rear gasket configuration.

Thanks for the info.
