Anybody have a picture of their 2nd generation Camaro frame with the engine removed? I need to see where the motor mounts are placed for a Chevy engine. As you probably know all the frames have multiple mounting locations for different engines. I am working on a 79 Formula Firebird which originally had a Pontiac 301 engine. I am preparring to install a Chevy 350. I also have a short tail Chevy TH350 transmission which I think will bolt right in using the same cross member location and driveshaft, I hope! Any tips for this motor swap will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

You'll need to make sure that you have Chevy mounts. I don't have a picture but the measurements on a small block Chevy are 1 inch out and 1 inch back from the Pontiac holes. Make sure that you have a Chevy tranny. There are differances in the bolt patterns between the two. All F-bodies used a short shaft tranny so the cross member and drive shaft are the same, (unless it was a 1970-'73 w/ big block that used a TH400. If that was the case, the mount would be on the opposite side of the TH350 mount).
Also, be sure that you change to a Chevy engine harness. The starter is on the opposite side on a Pontiac engine. Good luck! -- Nitrous is like that really hot chick, you want to hit it, but you don't know what the outcome will be! -- Nitrous is like that really hot chick, you want to hit it, but you don't know what the outcome will be! Yes, I have the correct short shaft Chevy TH350 so I am good there.
I can modify the original engine harness, just need to extend some wires.
What I don't have is the Chevy engine mount brackets/cradles that bolt onto the engine. Guess I'm off to the salvage yard in search of them. I might first check with the Chevrolet parts department.
Thanks
