holley 650 question

not good at describing parts but i'll try....i have a holley 650 with vacuum secondaries on a 350 4 speed tranny, i heard if u put a screw/bolt in the vacuum thing so when u give it gas it also moves the secondaries also, but does that help it or hurt it..figured id see if this guy is full of it or not

I'm assuming you are talking about the vacuum diaphragm that runs the secondaries. Some of the older Holley carbs had an actual vacuum hose to operate them, newer ones get vacuum straight into the diaphragm. Anyway, don't block this off. It will turn your carb into (essentially) a double pumper without the second accelerator pump. When you floor it, the secondaries will overload the engine with air, and the carb won't be supplying enough fuel to overcome this and it will result in a big bog when you punch it. With a double pumper carb, you will notice a bit more power, and a bit more throttle response over your vac. secondary though.
