350 chebby conversion? Posted By: dishragdragger On: 01-04-2008 @ 01:42:49 Reply | Edit i blew my 455 and am needing to put another motor in until i have money to build it up. I have a 350 chevy sittin here that i want to put in (just until i get money for the 455, im not a traider). What do i need to do this conversion....adapter plate for the th350, accesory and drive system for 350 (complete kit in summit or jegs?), different motor mounts...can i get 350 motor mounts from parts store? i know the shaker hood and stuff is not going to work so i'll put a cowl on for a while. What else do i need to do this cuz i know they came with 350 chebs from factory so it cant be that hard to do. Posted By: firebird455 On: 09-03-2006 @ 20:45:36 Reply | Top | Edit dishragdagger: First of all; one opsticle you will have to over come is the fact that the fuel pump and fuel lines are on the passenger side for a chevy, and driver side for the Pontiac. The transmissions have different bolt patterns. Needless to say the distributors are different, the accessory brackets will be different, motor mounts and the like. Because the chassis is the same for Camaro and Firebird, you can get the motor mounts and headers for the car and a 350 chevy motor. When you order the stuff, you will just have to have them look up for a comparable Camaro, or some later Firebirds, that would have come with SBCs.
