1978 301 engine: what spark plugs??

Posted By: easterwabbit On: 01-03-2008 @ 08:56:16         Reply | Edit
hello, i just pulled the plugs out of my all original 1978 301ci 2 bbl engine because it has a miss in it on a cylinder it seems, especially at low speed moderate acceleration, after running it hot and idling more than anything else but i drove it around a bit too, one plug looks wet and smells like fuel and another is kinda oily and some black flake deposits baked on it and the rest have real hot looking tangs and dark everywhere else, and dry

they are r46tsx

what should this engine have in it ?

auto parts store says r45tsx

arent those colder plugs ? i think thats the opposite of what i need ? the dark stuff isnt cooking off the plugs, seems too cold already, but ths tangs look like they are getting toasted

so i am real confused

theres never any pinging or preignition or starting problems or smoke or anything

just a miss on a cylinder sometimes, car sat untouched for 8 years until recently, never started during that time even once, so, i just got around to pulling the plugs

wat plugs are supposed to be in the 301 2bbl non turbo engines

thanks for anything
