I was just wondering if anyone could think of a few extra things for me to do while swapping engines? If there was any you can think of that would be easier to do to the car while the engine is out. -- 1980 Camaro, 350 with a snapped crank (hence the name)

Paint the engine compartment
Do a smooth firewall
Run the wires/hoses for any new gauges you are planning to use while you have a lot of space.
Clean up radiator and shroud, etc.
Look for rust or other damage you can fix while you have the chance. -- "You should always do sober what you said you would do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut." -- Ernest Hemingway

I freak out this time every year while I figure out what I can and cannot afford to fix, or upgrade before show season.

Odds are I wont even start until I get out of school (around the end of May), so don't hold your breathe for any pics soon.

Body to subframe mounts. lots of room and if they are original then 26 years is old enough...just replace them one side at a time..amazing how things stiffen back up...
take a look at the power steering lines, they are fairly cheap and something else that wears...
if it is a manual tranny, take a look at the pivot points on the solid linkages. I was supprised to find just how much had worn on my 77... -- 1970 all steel Camaro, berlineta t-tops, roller cam 454, tremec tko 600, chrysler 9 3/4 posi 2.56 gears. New Mexico Plate RAT 454

Thanks, I dont know what I would have thought of the body to subframe mounts. With the way things are working out, it might end up not being done until winter rolls around again (due to my work schedule and being away from the car). -- 1980 Camaro, 350 with a snapped crank (hence the name) (New Engine going in, April/ May and painted Charcoal Metallic soon there after)
