i purchased a 1977 Trans am, Pont 400 around 2 days ago which im leaving at my grandmothers place.. The problem im having is that the harmonic balancer doesnt have those big bolt in the middle, just 3 little screws.. im wondering how can i Manually crank it if its like that. Thanks

Well dude, I would hate to break the news to you, but I don't believe that you have a Pontiac 400 in your car. All Pontiac motors should have the large balancer bolt that is still accessible even with the crank pulley in place. Also, Pontiac motors have 4 bolts holding the crank pulley, not 3. It sounds to me as if that motor is a Small Block Chevelet. Easy check, which side of the motor is the fuel pump on. Driver's side is a Pontiac, or olds motor. Passenger side is a Chevrolet. Hope this helps.

regardless if its a bowtie or poncho there SHOULD be a large crank bolt , if you possbily can get the numbers off the driverside rear of the block , this will tell you more about the engine
