I was looking on ebay for an HEI. All of them on there seem to be pretty similar to eachother... is there something special to look for? Most all of them have the 50,000 volt coil with spark through about 7,500 RPM.
would something like this be alright?

Or should i go with a Chevy Billet HEI?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEVY-HEI-DISTRIBUTOR-NEW-50-K-VOLT-COIL-SMALL-BIG-BLOC_W0QQitemZ8043728607QQcategoryZ33690QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I see that there's also a new 65,000 volt series. Has anyone ever used one of these? (do you think there's a noticable difference?)http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SBC-CHEVY-350-HEI-DISTRIBUTOR-COMPLETE-UNIT-65-000-V_W0QQitemZ8044824082QQcategoryZ33690QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
^^I'm really interested in the new 65,000 volt series. It seems to be pretty impressive, and i was just curious if anyone else has used one before.
Any input would be appreciated!
Thanks

If you don't mind, try the procomp. I've been looking for reviews on it and can't find much. But yeah if your looking for a proven quality distributor go with msd. -- 94Z A4

I was amazed to see the spark that the msd pro billit distribtor hooked up to the msd 6a ingnition, The spark was so bright it basically looked like a welding arc.

either one of these units will probably be fine. however, you will get better performance by ditching the cap mounted coil and going to an MSD (MSD 6A)unit designed to run with the HEI as a trigger and an external coil. this setup will run well up to 6500 rpm's. -- 1970 all steel Camaro, berlineta t-tops, roller cam 454, tremec tko 600, chrysler 9 3/4 posi 2.56 gears.
