Deal on a 350

After looking for a 350 to replace the one in my 80 Camaro, I finally found one. My main problem is that it ran when it was pulled, but the owner doesnt know if it still does. My friend is handling this whole thing while I am at school, but he doesn't know if he can get it on a stand and test it. I just wondered what everyone here thinks, seeing as how the owner is only asking $200 and it comes with a carb and headers, and I'm pretty sure everything else as well (alternator, etc).

Do you know 100% that it ran when it was pulled, i.e. did you hear it or see it running? If not then you should assume that it doesn't. But $200 is not a lot of money if everything is included.

I did not see or hear it running when it was pulled, but I have known the seller for quite a few years now, so I believe him. I just have to have my friend as a middle man while I am at school. As for the price, even if it doesn't work, the parts and block itself should be able to even everything out even if I have to pull the engine apart and sell the parts.
Thanks -- 1980 Camaro, 350 with a snapped crank (hence the name)

$200 is a steal, is rebuilding out of the question?

I really want to avoid rebuilding so that I can rebuild the engine that is in my camaro now. Thats where my problem is. I dont want to buy an engine and have to rebuild it just so I can rebuild the engine that I really wanted to in the first place. -- 1980 Camaro, 350 with a snapped crank (hence the name)

Hurray for friends. The seller of the engine actually owes my very good friend some money, so my friend talked him down to $100 for the engine, carb, and headers. Even if it takes a little more work than I hoped, I cannot pass that deal up. -- 1980 Camaro, 350 with a snapped crank (hence the name)
