Smog tube removal help

At the risk of wearing out my welcome here..I need to ask another question about my 1980 Formula...301 non turbo.
I am slowly going through it and it is working out well. I want to remove the smog pump but am unsure about the steel tubes that run from the pump to the front of the cylinder heads. I guess these are the tubes that provide the air from the pump into the exhaust chambers as the system works?
Can these be removed and the holes in the heads plugged? There are many brackets and such in the way right now so I cannot get a clear view of how they attach to the heads etc.
Any help is always appreciated.
Thanks!
Brian

i'm not sure if yours are like mine but, you would have to tap the holes and put pipe plugs in them. that is probably the easiest way to do it and not have them leak.
since you live here in az , april 1&2 there is an all pontiac race and show at speedworld in the n/w part of phx metro. you can get more info at pontiacheaven.org. -- 76 formula yellow/black ramair hood 400 poncho punched.030 street/strip built m38 trans conveted rear end to a 4wdb 3.23posi

not hard at all . the rear holes are already blocked off and all you have to do is start the engine briefly to clesr out any debris in the chamber. if you have anymore questions call me 602-740-7987 -- 76 formula yellow/black ramair hood 400 poncho punched.030 street/strip built m38 trans conveted rear end to a 4wdb 3.23posi
